Genesee County Hit & Run Car Accident

I read a tragic story about a Genesee County Hit & Run Car Accident that shut down I-69 for several hours over the weekend. According to Davison Township Police, a driver and his passenger, in an MTA Your Ride car, were travelling on I-69 when their vehicle was allegedly hit by a minivan, near Irish Road. The MTA car was then run over by a motor-home that could not stop or avoid the car. The minivan left the scene of the accident.

The driver and passenger of the MTA car were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver was released but the passenger is still there in serious but stable condition. Davison Township Police are looking for the minivan or witnesses to the accident. If you have any information on this accident, please call them at (810) 653-5656.

I am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident. I wish the accident victims a full and complete recovery and hope that they suffered no permanent harm.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of  their legal rights.  For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured parties can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured parties can claim these benefits even if they did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in the auto accident. The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, the injured parties can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

If the driver’s identity is not discovered, the injured victims still have rights under the law. They may be able to file an uninsured motorists claim against their own insurance policy or another insurance policy to receive No-Fault Benefits.  At the very least, the injured victims should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Choosing The Best Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Our Michigan motorcycle accident lawyers represent bikers injured throughout the State of Michigan.  The injuries suffered in these accidents are severe and many times catastrophic.  For the injured biker, it is essential that the best motorcycle accident lawyer be selected to handle the case.

The motorcycle laws in Michigan are complex and choosing a lawyer without the necessary specialized knowledge can simply ruin the claims and diminish the likelihood of a great settlement.  But how does an injured biker decided which lawyer should be chosen for the case?

Do all lawyers in Michigan know how to handle motorcycle accident and injury cases?

No.  The insurance laws in Michigan regarding motorcycle accidents and auto accidents are very confusing  and change on a daily basis.  The No-Fault law was created in 1973 and there have been over 2,000 written court opinions regarding these laws.

The fact that Attorney Ernie drafted a will for your uncle or that Lawyer Linda handled your cousin’s divorce case does not make them qualified to handle a motorcycle accident case.  Many attorneys who claim to be specialists in motorcycle accident cases do not know the intricacies of the laws relating to motorcycle accident cases.

While many lawyers will offer to represent you in your case, it is important to choose a lawyer to represent you that handles serious motorcycle accident injury cases everyday and has significant experience and expertise in representing injury victims.  Lawyers without this knowledge and experience may not be familiar with or even understand these laws and its many technicalities, which could cause you to lose your benefits and your opportunity to obtain a settlement in your case.

How do you find the best motorcycle accident lawyer for your case?

The best way to find the right lawyer is to know the right questions to ask before you hire a lawyer for your case.  These questions are a good start:

 1.         What experience do you have handling serious motorcycle accident injury claims?

2.         Have you ever written a book, like this one, on motorcycle accidents and insurance claims?

3.         Have you ever spoken to groups of other lawyers and professionals about  accident cases and  insurance laws?

4.         Do you have a website with information on motorcycle accident cases and free forms that I can print to make my insurance claims?

5.         What kinds of settlements have you received for your clients?

The lawyers at Buckfire & Buckfire P.C. will give you honest answers to these questions.  Our firm has represented injury victims and their families throughout the State of Michigan for almost forty years.  Our lawyers have the thorough knowledge, expertise, and experience in handling these cases and understand how to handle difficult cases and best represent our clients.

Flint Dog Bite Injuries

Our Flint dog bite lawyers handle lawsuits for victims of dog bites and dog attacks.  The injuries from these attacks are often significant.  Many result in nerve damage and significant scars and disgifigurement.  Many of these scars are permanent.

Dog bite wounds that bleed typically result in scars.  Some types of skin produce keloid scars (i.e., scar tissue grows out of control, frequently producing raised, disfiguring scars). Small scars may fade away. Otherwise, scars may be improved but never removed. The type and severity of the scar depends on many factors, some of which are unrelated to the injury and involve our genetic predisposition. The severity of the injury also plays an important role in the severity of the scar.

Special consideration is given to dog bite injuries to the head and neck because of cosmetic issues and the complexity of tissue, muscle and bone structures in these areas.  The central target area for the face includes the lips, nose, and cheeks.  These injuries often require more complex medical treatment.

Repair of the wounds may require simple closure, removal of injured tissue, and reconstructive surgery. Sometimes completely severed tissue can be replaced as a graft or reattached with microsurgical repair of tiny blood vessels. Sometimes doctors have to move other tissue into the defect to close or recreate the disfigured feature. Such reconstruction may need multiple operations over several years.

Scars may be improved but most are never completely removed. Other techniques used to improve the deformity include dermabrasion (sanding of the skin), pressure scar modification, and camouflage make-up.

A victim of a dog bite attack is entitled to compensation under Michigan law from the owner or keeper of the dog for the injuries suffered in the attack.  The amount of the settlement depends on the severity of the injuries, the type of medical treatment, and the medical expenses.  Injuries, like scars, which are permanent give rise to larger settlements.

Flint Fatal Drunk Driving Accident

I read in the paper today about a tragic Flint Fatal Drunk Driving Accident in Genesee County. According to police, an alleged drunk driver, in a pick-up truck, was travelling down Court Street when he allegedly struck a car heading south on Grand Traverse Street. One of the passengers in the car was killed and the other was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Police stated they found alcohol at the crash site. Police continue to investigate this accident.

I  am very sorry to hear about these tragic auto accidents and wish all the injured parties the fullest and speediest recovery possible.  My condolences to the family of the deceased passenger for their loss.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims on their legal rights. For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured passenger can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover his or her medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured party can claim these benefits even if he or she did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

Furthermore, for this type of accident, the family members of the deceased passenger may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits.  This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

In addition, the car accident injury victims may also have claims for personal injuries against any driver determined to be at fault in this auto accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case. In this lawsuit, the injured victims can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  Also, the family members of the deceased passenger  may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused these car accidents. At the very least, the surviving family should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

Another possible claim for anyone injured by the drunk driver would be a potential Michigan dram shop case against the seller or furnisher of the  alcohol before the accident.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victims with this type of claim.  Auto accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.
