Nursing Home Bed Sore Lawsuit Filed

We recently filed a nursing home neglect lawsuit in the Saginaw County Circuit Court for a client who suffered a serious bed sore in a nursing facility.  The patient was admitted to the nursing home for recovery after a cardiac procedure at a Saginaw hospital.  He had numerous risk factors for developing a pressure ulcer but was not provided the necessary preventive measures at the nursing home.

The patient was in the nursing home for less than fourteen days and was discharged home.  Shortly after discharge, a visiting nurse observed the pressure sore on his sacrum.  He was re-admitted to the hospital and required surgery due to the severity of the sore.  He also had a significant infection which caused a lengthy hospitalization.

The suit alleges that the nursing home staff and the nursing home doctor were negligent in their care of the patient.  It seeks damages for the pain and suffering caused by the bed sore and other similar type damages.  A claim for medical expenses and home care has also been made.  No trial date has been set by the court.
